Herrenknecht Tunneling Machine

Guadalajara, Mexico

The transport and communications department of Mexico presented RCE with the opportunity to do a job for them from the tunneling machine while they were drilling a tunnel for a train under the City of Guadalajara.  This is the same tunneling machine that crossed under Barcelona and drilled just below the cathedral of the sacred family. It is the second largest tunneling machine in the world, internally it has 4 floors and measures almost 200 yards long. the machine extracts stone and manufactures with them its own cement with which it builds the walls of the tunnel. It is considered the fourth largest vehicle in the world as it perches on rails and wheels and moves at the same time it builds.
